Agreement Between Māpura Studios & Artist re Artworks, Images and Publicity
Māpura Studios seeks opportunities to promote our artists. This may involve artworks in any form, artist information, personal images and statements, and personal images being placed within the public arena.
This may include:
• Art exhibitions and events within Māpura Studios’ space, other creative and public spaces, collaborative art displays with other organisations and galleries.
• Showing/exhibiting work in suitable public locations for sale.
• Publications and/or recordings for promotion, funding or educational purposes. These could include video, photographic documentation, digital, audio recordings, television, social media, website documentaries or news items, newspaper, magazine and journal publications, newsletters etc.
• Image Gallery, shop and artist profile on website (all communications through Māpura Studios).
• Feedback received from artists or their caregivers, with relation to the benefits of attending Māpura Studios may be used for funding applications or promotional ventures.
• Māpura Studios will hold for one year artwork that it considers suitable for exhibition or PR/Publication (unless otherwise agreed).
• If an artist’s reputation grows and becomes sought after, Māpura Studios may negotiate with the artist to maintain a portfolio of their work (bridging a number of years) to appropriately present them in the public arena.
• All other work will be returned to artists at end of the term.
• Work not held for exhibition and not claimed by the artist at the end of the term will be recycled or disposed of.
• Work held will be attributed and named in consultation with the artists – if a title is not identified then the work will be officially titled “Untitled 1“ etc.
• Work available for sale will be priced by Māpura Studios staff.
• Artists will be entitled to 50% of the sale price after framing, gallery commissions and GST have been deducted, the remainder will go to Māpura Studios to cover exhibition /curation costs.
Note: Māpura Studios will do everything within its capabilities to ensure that any representation has integrity, is respectful of the individual and attributes the artist in all circumstances.
